Born
and brought up in an ideal Christian family inclined to Mission service, Dr.
Bidari was motivated to commit his life to serve in healing ministry. He was
sponsored for MBBS in 1968. Completed MBBS in 1972, then undergoing internship
and residency he secured a seat for the Masters Course in General Surgery on the
merit basis. Dr. AG Fletcher as teacher and guide, Dr. Bidari completed MS
(Gen.) and joined the staff of Miraj Medical Centre in 1977. As a post-graduate
student and later as consultant here, he worked with eminent surgeons like Dr.
AG Fletcher, Jr. , Dr. Cyril Koundinya, Dr. RK Kolhatkar and Dr. HR Tata. Dr.
Bidari became the Head of Surgery Department in 1982. Making use of
his special training acquired in the field of Gastro-Intestinal (GI)
Endoscopy at USA , he started the first GI Endoscopy Lab and initiated
Laparoscopic surgeries in Southern Maharashtra area. He
was awarded FCAMS (Fellowship of the Christian Academy of Medical Sciences) and
FACS (Fellow of American College of Surgeons). Presently he is the President of
Deccan Association of Laproscopic Surgeons. He had privilege of being on
various academic committees of the Govt. Medical Colleges, was nominated to
Senate, Shivaji University, Kolhapur and a member of the syllabus setting
committee for Physiotherapy course. He is also an Examiner and Paper setter for
both undergraduate and post graduate medical examinations for various
universities. He had presented about 32 papers at National as well as Inter-
National conferences and trained and guided 28 post-graduate students who in
turn have successfully embarked on their own careers. Some of them are working
as Consultants in our staff. He
was Consultant Representative at the Managing Committee under the Directorship of
Dr. RK Kolhatkar. Later in 1987, as Deputy Medical Superintendent, played an
important role in compiling Hospital Formulary. He was also Secretary for the
Board of Administration then. In 1989 he was appointed and served as Deputy
Director for 5 years. During this period he streamlined the working of the
Institute of Pharmacy and all the para-medical courses and also facilated the
recognition for Dip.N.B. (Cardiology and Cardiothoracic Courses). He was again
called back into Administration as Deputy Director in 1997. Dr.
Bidari was involved in the planning, setting up and shifting of Miraj Heart
Institute and new Burns and Plastic Surgery Ward with ICUs. He negotiated with
Director of Medical and Health Education,
Goa to recognize Wanless Hospital as a centre for treatment of cancer and heart
surgery patients under Goa Mediclaim. He also initiated the process for
recognition of our hospital as CPS (College of Physicians and Surgeons) His
contributions towards society are innumerable. He was the Chairman of Fund
Raising committee for Centenary Celebration of Miraj Medical Centre. He is
communicant member of Miraj Christian Church and is involved in Christian
Nurture of sponsored medical students. Being a Local Convenor for TAFTEE (The
Association for Theological Education by Extension) and having done the course
himself, he has been involved in
starting several TAFTEE groups on Hospital Campus. He was coordinator for an
Interdenominational Peace Festival 98-Robert Cunville Crusade under the
Ministries of Billy Graham Evangelistic Association. Wife
Vilasini is also a medico, presently working as Staff Doctor at WHMMC. She has
completed M.Phil in Hospital Health systems Management. Bidarees have two
children, a daughter, Dr. Sunita, pursuing
a medical career and a son, Sumit attending college. |
