Students working on PharmaceuticalsIntroduction

The Institute of Pharmacy is run by the Miraj Medical Centre Society.  It offers, through its affiliations, courses in pharmacy to eligible students.  Students are provided domicile accommodations, practical training, and library access.  Below is the academics calendar and results of Institute examination, as well as direct contact information for the Institute.

General Objectives of Institute of Pharmacy:

The institute of Pharmacy, Miraj Medcial Centre was opened in December 1980, basically to provide trained pharmacists for a predo-minantly rural area.  At present the Institute conducts the two year Diploma in Pharmacy Course and plans to start the        B. Pharm degree course in the near future.

 

 

 

 







Affiliation:

The course Diploma in pharmacy is affiliated to the Directorate of Technical Education, Mumbai (DTE), Maharashtra State approved by the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI), New Delhi and All India Council of Technical Education New Delhi (AICTE) for intake capacity of 60 students.

Duration of the Course:

The duration of the courses shall be for two academic years, with each academic year spread over a period of not less than hundred and eighty working days in addition to 500 hours practical training spread over a period of not less than 3 months.

Eligibility:

For admission to the first year or semester of the diploma course in pharmacy, the candidate should have passed the higher secondary certificate (Std. XII) examination of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education, or any other examination declared by the said Board to the equivalent thereto, with the following: (1) Physics, (2) Chemistry, (3) Biology or mathematics, and (4) English.

Domicile:

Domicile Certificate is not necessary if the candidate has passed the qualifying examination from a recognized institute in Maharashtra and has studied and passed his/her X, XI and XII standard examinations from a recognized school/college in Maharashtra.

Practical Training:

After satisfactory completion of the Diploma in pharmacy in the institution, every candidate, for the purpose of Registration, shall be required to take practical training for a period that shall not be less than 500 hours, (spread over a period of not less than three months) in an Institution, Hospital, Pharmacy or Manufacturing House recognized for the purpose by the Pharmacy Council of India.

Students Counting Meds

Library:

An excellent reference library numbering about 1000 volumes is in the Institute of pharmacy.  In addition, a Central Medical Library which is located in the main hospital building is also available to the student of pharmacy for knowledge of the faculty of medicine and also students can avail the facilites from B.M.L.

Academic Status Results:

The results of our Institute in the examination conducted by the Board of Technical Examinations, Mumbai-400 051, has been outstanding and with first five Institution in the State.  The students who successfully passed are always securing first class and at least 10% are securing Distinction Maharashtra state Board of Technical Education, Mumbai.  Above all our students have stood in Rank a the State level and the names of meritorious students is as given below.

Mr. Patale stood first in merit in General merit list.  For the last 21 years our Results are Top in Pune division.  Many past students of our Institute have secured admission on merit to Degree Course (B. Pharm) on the basis of D.Pharm. marks.

Some of the outstanding ex-students of our Institute have also successfully completed post graduation (M. Pharm.) and currently working as executives in reputed pharmaceutical industries and in teaching faculty.

Most of our students have secured excellent positions in the Society on D.Pharm. merit such as:

* Hospital Pharmacist in Govt. and private Hospitals.

* Established own Retail and wholesale business.

* As Medical Representatives in Pharmaceutical Industries.

* Established own Repacking Units.

* Serving as Pharmacist in Retail and wholesale business.
